LEO Academy Trust were proud supporters of this year's Maths Week London! There had been many events planned for this exciting week before school closures; a times table tournament, 24 game cross academy competition, practical maths challenges, as well as the opportunity for some children to travel to City Hall to compete in the Count On Us challenge for Mayor’s Fund for London.

However, our spirits were not dampened and our enthusiasm for celebrating this subject across the capital transformed into a virtual Maths Week London!

Each day, there were a series of challenges for KS1 and KS2 children. Not only were they practising essential maths skills, they were getting familiar with the city in which we live. There were London Landmarks to decode, navigation around the tube network, and a series of London symbols to decipher. There have been over 600 responses to one of the activities alone!

The three LIVE events that were put on for KS2 children were a huge success! This was a fantastic way to bring children from each of the LEO academies and beyond together for quizzes all on the theme of London. We had over 250 children joining us on nearpod and in classrooms each day!

Our eyes have been opened as to how to use technology more to collaborate, be creative, and celebrate all of the fantastic maths learning that we have been achieving despite the circumstances. We can’t wait for Maths Week London 2021!
