LEO Academy Trust take part in a programme with My Chinese Teacher, who aim to teach children Mandarin Chinese. We are very proud to be able to offer this opportunity for children within the Trust.
Mandarin Chinese is the most widely spoken language in the world and has become a very valuable and highly sought after skill. Given China’s rapid economic growth and emergence as a major global powerhouse, Mandarin is considered to be the most important of ‘tomorrow’s languages’. Learning Mandarin opens up more opportunities to work, communicate, and understand a country that will continue to play an important role in the world’s future.
The My Chinese Teacher programme is one of the world’s most popular Chinese language programmes used by schools. Interactive lessons are delivered live from Beijing, with Chinese teachers using video conferencing technology, providing students with an authentic Chinese experience along with real world context. The programme allows children a unique opportunity to develop a global perspective and gain the valuable language skills required to broaden their opportunities for the future.

In July 2019 our academies hosted Chinese students as part of True Partnership's Sister School Partnership Programme. This was an exciting experience for our students, giving them the opportunity to discuss and understand different cultures, helping them achieve our pupil outcome 'Active Citizens in a Global Community'.
In October 2019 members of our senior leadership team went to Hangzhou on a leadership delegation to visit our academie's sister schools. The delegation was a great opportunity for the senior leaders to exchange teaching practices and plan for the future pupil visit.
Our pupils were due to visit Hangzhou in October 2020 but due to Covid-19 this trip will now take place virtually later in the academic year.
"True Education Partnerships have brought learning to life through our work with our sister schools."
