LEO Academy Trust was honoured to welcome the Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson MP, Secretary of State for Education, to Brookfield Primary Academy this week, alongside colleagues from the Department for Education.
The visit highlighted the Trust’s forward-thinking approach to inclusive education, Early Years, curriculum development, and digital innovation. During the tour, the Secretary of State had the opportunity to engage with staff and pupils.
Universal Free Breakfast Club
Brookfield’s breakfast provision supports every child to start their day with a nutritious meal. This initiative forms part of the Government’s commitment to improve school attendance and support families through free breakfast clubs.

Nursery Expansion to Include Children from 9 Months+
Plans are well underway to expand Brookfield’s nursery offer, enabling families to access high-quality, school-based early years education from 9 months of age. This aligns with new Government funding to expand childcare access across England.

Curriculum Innovation and Oracy
Discussions focused on LEO’s commitment to high-quality curriculum design, a strong emphasis on oracy and writing, and a broad enrichment offer that supports every child’s personal and academic development.
